It’s Monday and the start of a brand new week. And that means it’s also time for Melanie’s Share a Your World prompt. So, without further ado….
If we learn from our mistakes, why are we always so afraid to make them?
No one wants to make mistakes, and mistakes can be costly. But the fact is that everyone makes mistakes and if you’re going to make one, it’s best to learn from it so that at least you don’t make the same mistake twice. I just hope that American voters will remember that when they cast their ballots this November.
How do we know that pleasure is good and pain is bad?
Because pleasure feels good and pain feels bad? Duh! Well, unless you’re into S&M, that is, and if you are, you are one sick sonofabitch, in my humble opinion.
What problem or situation did TV / movies make you think would be common, but when you grew up you found out it wasn’t?
That’s easy. Parents who sleep in separate twin beds, like Ozzie & Harriet or the Beaver’s parents.
If you drive, do you speed when no one is watching? Have you ever run a red light late at night on purpose, particularly if it doesn’t seem to change very quickly? If you don’t drive, what minor law may you have broken?
I have been known to be heavy-footed, so I speed most of the time except in my neighborhood where kids are playing, riding bikes, and people are walking their dogs. I always drive at or below the speed limits in such neighborhoods. And yes, I have occasionally run a red light. But these days, with cameras mounted at many intersections, I don’t anymore.

I’ll shout Hallelujah, too, if Trump loses in November, assuming we’re even going to have an election — and a fair election, and that if Trump does lose, he will actually accept the loss and not gin up his rabid base and keep control of the country through violent revolution. And I’m not joking.

I wonder if we will have an election (normal one that is). That will probably be put on delay too and that redheaded idiot will still boast about how wonderful he is. NOT!!!!

Thanks Fandango for Sharing Your World! I agree with that whole election scenario, but I also realize that the voters (by and large – there are a few exceptions to the ‘rule’) are stupid as stupid and won’t see beyond their own nose. I shudder to think, and today is sort of bad, so I’m not dwelling on that mess just yet. It was illuminating to a degree to read your answer to the pleasure/pain question…different strokes my friend, different strokes. I dabbled in that ‘alternative’ option when I was very very young and due to my exposure was so disgusted by it afterward that I share your “sick sonofabitch’ perspective. Books like “The Story of O” (read with caution if you choose to) offer a perspective from the other side of that..and show that some are gang-pressed into that lifestyle (which is another discussion altogether). Um. I got off track didn’t I? Blame the dental visit I had yesterday – I’m rather hopped up on pain meds (only Advil, nothing strong really), but even Advil makes me a bit wonky. It’s making me ramble too I see. Apologies and I’m looking forward to FPQ tomorrow! Have a great day sir! 🙂

A Christian (not from any denomination of school I went to when I was a kid) minister (who had previously been something like a leader of a Hindu commune) recommended to me — and when I was quite young (but adult) — that I see that movie, Melanie. His tone was something like that it would be important. Well, I didn’t bother. I don’t remember why, but something about the context (while I had no substantive clue) told me it would be a waste of effort. Years later, it happened to be on cable. I thought, what the heck, might as well get a clue. Then I wondered what kind of dumbass he was. Nevertheless, it probably doesn’t hurt to have a clue… “wise as serpents.”

I read “The Story of O” way back in the day, but primarily for the more prurient parts. I was never into the pleasure/pain shtick.

I found this conversation interesting, and it will “fit” here due to commentary between 4:30 and 5:30. I didn’t know who the guy was… I mean the guest. I decided to look him up before posting. Holy crap. There are quite a few of these guys who give you clues (mainly just clues) to realities behind power, but they stay in the contaminated shit pile. [As a man with a very different style (and in a different country) said in a long convo I shared yesterday, if I have the wording right in my memory, there are people who “feed the dragon” (by which, in his “meaning” and schtick, he didn’t intend China, but something like lizard people from space tied into technology) — in hopes of being gobbled up last. And I think that other man was feeding the dragon more than giving clues… but a few clues. If you listened to that other one long enough, you found he wants to be wired into the technology; at least, that is, the best he does is gives mixed messages. But he apparently has to make a show of commiserating with people who don’t figure him out.]

[The host is a somewhat famous interviewer, and has done some stand-up comedy. (Plus, I was reminded very recently, he had a bizarre reality show kind of a long time ago.) Of course, none of that exactly matters.] I just think there are some people who aren’t very famous — such as the guest — who nevertheless have some observation and insight on people and institutions who are really pulling strings, and maybe some degree of control. However, that doesn’t make them necessarily very wise. Full disclosure, I had thought I’d listened to the whole recording. But I must’ve bumped my device or something and missed a chunk. For example, it irritates me when people who see themselves as brainiacs envision the answer to world problems or their own frustrations to be finding a means to escape the people on earth. But then the other people who are thinking the same way are messing up the earth. Case in point, that guest acts upset about Trump being in office. Yet, I’ve now found that he (that guest) not only works for the person, Thiel, who I mentioned (in a follow-up), but considers him like a best friend. So… that guest is going to escape into space with the very kind of people who got Trump into office? It’s about as smart as having a hole in the head. [Musk is another guy who wants to escape to space; he sold flame throwers online as a quick money-making scheme. Not admirably responsible.]
It’s probably best to remove the 1:59 pm, the 2:14 pm, and this post.

I know, but I sometimes have a hard time anyone with eyes, ears, and a brain could not realize their mistake if they voted for Trump.
