SoCS — What Did You Expect?

6EB45FF5-415A-4114-979F-F7EB9B1559FAWhat did you expect
When you chose to elect
A man who would neglect
All traditions and norms?

Did you not suspect
That he would not respect
And would not protect
The rule of law?

Why did you not object
How did you not detect
That this man would infect
Our democratic republic?

It would have been easy to detect
And so simple to project
If you had just chosen to connect
All of the dots.

We must act now to reject
Another four year prospect
By voting to eject
This menace from the White House.

Written for today’s Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompt from Linda G. Hill. We are asked to find a word with the letters “ect” in it, and base your post on that word.

I did too, but those thoughts I did reject.
But now things have gotten even worse, I detect.
And those thoughts to defect I might have to resurrect.

Very good one and you are so right! Unfortunately, things will not change 😦

Perfection! And now he’s “ordering” a learned man on epidemics to keep his mouth shut? What happened to free speech? I’m so tired of this mess.

This is an enjoyable poem, despite the subject matter.

    I really respect
    Your nearly perfect
    Attempt to project
How we got in this mess.

I find rhyming and poetry somehow soothing in these troubled times. My most recent post is a near-acrostic of the title ”An American Crisis…”, etc.

That is a great and sadly true poem. In some ways I wish it was November and we could just get it over with, and at the same time I am afraid of a repeat four years.
