Who Won The Week? 1/26/20

10CC3057-4EEA-4C80-B8C1-700C0FC6C906It’s time for another Who Won the Week prompt. The idea behind Who Won the Week is for you to select who you think “won” this past week. Your selection can be anyone or anything — politicians, celebrities, athletes, authors, bloggers, your friends or family members, books, movies, TV shows, businesses, organizations, whatever.

I will be posting this prompt on Sunday mornings (my time). If you want to participate, write your own post designating who you think won the week and why you think they deserve your nod. Then link back to this post and tag you post with FWWTW.

This week I am choosing U.S. Congressman Adam Schiff.9611ADB1-A5EC-45B2-9C0C-C23F84254770This past week, Adam Schiff, or as Trump calls him, “Shifty Schiff,” did a masterful job as the lead prosecutor in the impeachment trial of Donald Trump in the U.S. Senate. He presented the evidence in a clear, calm, and compelling manner. He was rational, precise, and persistent when reviewing the undisputed facts and the timeline of events, and he made a bold case against the President. Compared to the clown crew sent in to represent Trump, Adam Schiff shined.

Schiff’s impassioned speech on Thursday night was his most visceral. He pointed out that Trump repeated the bogus, Russian-backed propaganda questioning the fact that Russia had hacked a Democratic Party server in 2016. In that speech, Schiff issued his harshest assessment of Trump — that he’s a continuing danger and “imminent threat” to democracy.

Schiff’s closing argument Friday night was a plea for a fair trial in the Senate. After days of arguments, opening statements, and video clips, Schiff summed it up this way: “I implore you — give America a fair trial,” he said. “She’s worth it.”

And now it’s your turn, folks. Who (or what) do you think won the week?

Torn up by mostly the conservative press. They love him on the left.

Without a doubt: Adam Schiff showed the best of us. Unfortunately, the Republicans saw fit to focus on his single mocking of trump ( I loved Schiff’s saying in the “prebuttal”: Who knew the President was so thin-skinned?), and his reference to a CNN report about the Republicans’ fear of trump.

He was brilliant as he built the incontrovertible case, brick by brick, while citing the founders’ warnings and appealing to the Republicans’ better angels, who seem to have flown south en masse.
