It’s my birthday.
I’m at the the liminal stage between childhood and adulthood.
It feels like a real gut punch.
I have to face it that my youth is over.
I can’t feel sorry for myself, I can’t lament this transition.
I have to craft a wise plan.
One that will capitalize on my new found maturity.
(Exactly 57 words)
Written for Sammi Cox’s Weekend Writing Prompt, where we are challenged to write a poem or piece of prose using the word “liminal” in exactly 57 words. Also written for these daily prompts: Daily Addictions (birthday), Ragtag Daily Prompt (punch), Fandango’s One-World Challenge (youth), Word of the Day Challenge (lament), Your Daily Word Prompt (craft), and The Daily Spur (capital). For the record, it’s not my birthday and I transitioned from childhood to adulthood decades ago.
I’m considering not counting HAPPY BIRTHDAY! 🎂🍾🎈🎁

just stay the same age every year…it is easier than trying to remember how old you are.

It’s not actually my birthday. That was just one of the prompt words. But thanks nonetheless. 😉

I thought that might be the case, but everyone has a birthday once a year

It’s not actually my birthday. I probably should have written my post in the third person. 😉

Good one. Liminal is a tough one.

Agreed. It is not a word I’ve ever seen, much less used, before!

You had a prompt in every line and it all still flowed really well. Good job!
