In Other Words — Tea Time Ritual

9F434163-10C0-4C58-BCCC-A148BF421BE0I always try to set up her afternoon tea in her favorite way.

I set the tea cup on a fresh doily, take her reading glasses out of their case, using the case as a holder for her spectacles, and open up whatever book she is reading to the page identified by her bookmark.

I do this each and every afternoon, just the way she likes it.

Because it’s our ritual and I know how particular she is, to the point of being persnickety.

Just as she was up until the day she died three years ago.

Written for the In Other Words prompt from Patricia’s Place. The challenge this week is to write a story or poem of five lines or fewer using the picture above and/or the word “favorite.” Photo credit: Esther Merbt from Pixabay.

Thank you. This is fiction. It’s a story inspired by the picture.
