Burn, Baby, Burn

6E59BC7E-5CCD-46A5-8B63-4E90D19DD274In a moment of weakness, I walked through the door and announced, “I want a tattoo.”

The man behind the counter, oozing with charisma, smiled and said, “You’ve come to the right place, as this is a tattoo parlor.”

“Cool,” I said. “Do you have a permit to give tattoos?”

“Well, if you’re looking for substantiation, my business license is hanging on the wall here,” he said, pointing to the framed document.

“Cool,” I said again. “So what are my options?”

“Does size matter?” he asked me.

Of course size matters,” I said. “I want something that looks like a flame and I want it on my entire forearm.”

He pulled a book of tattoo designs from under the counter and said, “I think I have something perfect for you. It’s called ‘Burn, Baby, Burn,’” and he flipped to a page in the book.

“Perfect,” I said.

And that’s how I got my first — and only — tattoo.

Don’t blame your guy for stopping at one. Recently a friend’s daughter got married, she wore a beautiful white gown. Sadly the whole virginal bride look was spoiled by her arms that were covered in tattoos, legacy of a foolish youth.

That is a lovely tattoo… but they don’t stay like that forever. Get to my age and it will look totally different, not to mention how much they hurt at the time!

I’ll have to take your word for it. I’ve never actually gotten a tattoo.
