We Did It! — Maybe?

I just went to tygpress.com to see if Carol Anne’s (Therapy Bits) posts we’re still showing up. In her post she asked, “If you can check on tygpress for therapy bits and let me know, I’d appreciate it!”

So I did. I typed “tygpress.com” in my browser and this is what came up: EF7872CD-EC88-4411-8AC7-2D3CE09DCC66Wow! Tygpress.com is “temporarily out of service.” And the out-of-service message even included an apology: “We are extremely sorry to the content owners.” Well I’ll be damned.

We did it. We shut down Tygpress!

Well, at least temporarily! How great is that?

Congratulations to all of you who made your voices heard, who posted complaints to DigitalOcean and to WordPress, who completed the forms, and who used this badge:Tygpress not authorizedAll of your efforts seem to have worked. Woo hoo!

Now we just need to mobilize like this and maybe Trump will be a one-term President!

Wow! FANTASTIC! Congratulations and well done to everyone who complained and did things to get rid of it. Wasn’t able to see well enough to join in but this is wonderful. Thankyou everyone. High fives all round. 😀

🙂 Now, that is good news, Fandango.

What would be even much better news is Tygpress shutting down permanently.

When a small number of my followers asked me to post about this topic, I did not know that it would make such an impact.

Well that was a turnaround not expected. Especially an apology on top. Wasn’t expecting this to happen at all.

As you say the victory may be temporary, but we were noticed. Still sad we have lost Teresa (Haunted Wordsmith) and some others in the process.

Maybe there’s a way to let them know that it’s safe to come back.

LMAO! Yeah, Baby! (okay, temp out of service, technical issues?) I’d say that’s a damn good sign!!
We owe you so much gratitude for designing that badge… The WP bloggers should be proud to have stuck together, spreading the word, and zapping these bastards!
I’m a little loopy, 3 hours of sleep, no coffee, an this is what I read too first thing!!!

That’s great new. I did not expect a response let alone an apology. It’s nice to know that people power can still work.

Yes. I just asked Fandango if he’d make a “Cheeto” badge that looks similar.

Let’s give credit to where it’s due. You were not the only complainant. I complained EVERYWHERE including Google and WordPress and anywhere else I could think to lodge a complaint. This one is from Website Informer:

I hope you don’t think I was trying to claim credit for the temporary takedown of the tygpress site. Mine was just one among many who were activists against that site stealing our creative content. This was a collective win for which many of us played a part.

Which is why maybe (MAYBE!) it helped. But there are so many sites like this. Uncountable numbers of them.

FYI, you can stop celebrating. They are back up. In pieces, but don’t worry, it’ll all be back soon enough.

They will come and go until they found a platform that hasn’t banned them. Unless they decide to use their OWN servers, in which case all bets are off.

They changed their name to tyngpress.com and were back up, but now they are “temporarily out of service.” Getting these guys out of business is not a one shot. It’s a process.

We’ll have to keep an eye on it. Because they WERE back up — pictures without links — and now they are down again. But they are trying to get back up and I’m pretty sure they will succeed. All they have to do is find the right criminal platform.

Between FB and the Russians and OUR OWN GOVERNMENT, how much power do we really have in this mess? It’s why i get so tired. It’s like Alice in Wonderland: you have to run as fast as you can just to stay in the same place.

Just checked minutes ago and the “temporarily out of service” message is still there with the apology. There is strength in numbers!
