I downloaded the lasted update to the WordPress app for iOS and was greeted with the normal graphical representation that shows how poorly my blog is doing in terms of views. But the so-called Happiness Engineers at WordPress also gifted me with some in-your-face statistics showing that my blog has received 42% fewer views today than it did yesterday. All I need, according to this new addition to the display of stats, is 151 more views today to match yesterday’s views, which, incidentally, were 144 views fewer (down 29%) than the day before that. That’s kind of depressing.
Come on, WordPress. Is it really necessary to give these stats in addition to the chart that tells me that nobody is reading my posts. I don’t like it. Not one bit.
And you call yourselves Happiness Engineers. Yeah, right.
My stats have been down too, but I haven’t posted as much recently, and trying to catch up on my reader has been failure101 as it’s been all over the place.

Well, that’s annoying!! And unnecessary!

Quit looking at stats and do your own thing

Probably good advice.

They’re not accurate and don’t mean anything really. You have readers that support you and that’s what counts, right?

Must be the summer solstice effect (more sun, more time outdoors, less reading.) I still enjoy your posts almost every day!

Don’t worry about your statistics. Your content is good and that is all that matters. Write to please yourself and damn the rest.

Yikes! That’s almost like saying “today you are a loser.”

I’ve never actually looked at the stats before ….. until inspired by you to do so today. So I don’t know what has changed or even what they really mean.
But you’ll be happy to learn that I saw a lot of minus signs on mine. It’s all downhill, apparently.
But a 68% reduction of almost nothing is still almost nothing. So everything is OK. And there’s no need for me to check the stats again.

I need to embrace your attitude about stats. I look at them way too often.

It’s not as though we are running for office (thank God!) – I honestly couldn’t care less about them.

Wait till you get to Google search console for your site. That shit is seriously insulting.

Ha! I never google myself!

Smart move! Everytime I googled myself I couldnt sleep for months. But Google search console shows performance of your site and it’s far more depressing thats wordpress stats.
More details more stress.

Hrmmm… are you writing your blog for others or for self. If for self, then who cares if anybody reads it. If it is for others, maybe their scheduled changed or maybe you got complacent with your tagging. Who knows. I know that 216 is 432.5% of the views than I’ve got today. That’s an increase of 332.54%.😎

I write for myself, but I also appreciate it when I can look at my stats and see that others have read what I have written and that it resonates with at least some of them.

They should have a new name; unnecessarily creating unhappiness engineers.

as my grandmother used to say “doona fash yerself”…it is due to all the electrical brownouts going on…for example, we had 10K places without electric today for seven hours..gotta figure that out of that 10k, 4k of em were your last years followers.

No doubt that I have 4,000 fans in your town! So that must be the answer! 😂

I despise stats. Don’t read ’em never have, never will. I think that WP has it backwards though, negativity is never the way to grow. 😉

I’m a numbers guy, so I can’t help looking at my stats. It’s my nature. 😏

Uh, like much of WordPress, their stats “dinger’ is off kilter. Maybe a LOT. You are one of the most popular bloggers I know, so phooey to their stats. Besides I think they make those things up by throwing darts at a board or something…maybe their computer software needs an update? In any case I’M reading your blog. Every day too. So there to those engineers of immense twerp-i-tude. 😛

Thank you Melanie. That means a lot to me. I’m so pleased to have you as a regular reader. Just as I am to you on your blog.

My stats always drop when the warmer weather comes in. People aren’t huddled around their computers, they’re outside in the sunshine. Can you imagine?
That said, I’m with you. if I wanted to know percentages, I would have been an accountant. I don’t math, and don’t feel I should be subjected to it, either. Happiness, bah!
On a side note…why don’t you show up in my reader? That could be another reason stats are down.

Hmm. That’s a good question, indeed. I wonder how many readers, besides yours, my posts don’t show up in.

I’m still finding even though I’m re-following the ones WP wiped out with the update, when I visit, I’m not following. It’s really annoying. 🤬🤯

Hey fella… you get more views than many of us!
I’ve only been doing this a few weeks so I’m not surprised, and no one wants to read my drivel anyway but stay strong eh fella. Who needs millions of fans reading your stuff when you have loyal fans right here!!
Chin up, chest out, smile on. Your doing fine.

Is today the day to report on this stuff? I have not looked at mine. I doubt if I will.
