I’m Just Not Feeling It

In one of the four drafts, I tried to craft, as I am wont to do each day, a cohesive story around five one-word prompts, including my own. But nothing worked.

Then I began writing a post for Sue Vincent’s Thursday Photo Prompt and I just couldn’t get it to come together. Same with The Haunted Wordsmith’s Daily Prompt post and with Paula Light’s Three Things Challenge post. Nada!

I thought about writing yet another rant about Donald Trump and, even though there’s plenty to rant about, my head and my heart just weren’t into it.

I have been wracking my brain (or is that racking my brain? I’m never sure which is the correct expression) all day, but nothing has surfaced.

Then I saw the Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie Tale Weaver prompt, where we are challenged to weave a tale in which ‘search’ features prominently.

So perhaps that’s the answer. I’ve been spending all this time today in search of something to write about and to post. But is it appropriate to write a post about a search when that search has come to naught? Probably not.

Maybe I’ll try again later. Or maybe not. But right now, I’m just not feeling it.

    I hear ya. I have a bunch of saved prompts, but all I’ve done so far is post a pic of my cat for paws & claws. Hey, there’s an idea for ya! 🐱

    I love this….writers write to connect … you’ve touched on something we all feel so … a creative post on ‘not feelin it’!

    I always have think that one [wracking/racking] through as well!

    I have my fair share of half written and just not feeling it posts saved in my drafts. There are days like that! 🙂 Good luck- hope you’re inspired really soon!

    I have a writing challenge coming up tomorrow, where maybe you could use your Donald Trump post. It is my MM Music challenge and I will discuss The Mighty Quinn. I hope that you decide to write something for it.

    Wrack, unless you are putting your brain on a shelf … or a rack. Sometimes, it isn’t a bad idea to write something that isn’t part of a prompt. Or, as everyone told me when I was a kid writer trying to be a grown-up — write what you know. Write what is true — for you. I bet you have a ton of stories you haven’t even looked at.

      According to grammarist.com, “To wrack one’s brain would be to wreck it. This might sort of make sense in some figurative uses, but rack is the standard spelling where the phrase means to think very hard. Wrack [one’s] brain is so common, though, that we have no choice but to consider it an accepted variant.”

      Yes, I probably do have a lot of stories, but as an anonymous blogger, there are some I am not willing to share. Maybe I need to change the names to protect the innocent (or guilty?). 😱

    I think making up a quote for Trump, using all the words in a couple of sentences, should do the trick. The real challenge will be to make up nonsense that resembles his nonsense.

    I feel like I’m in the same boat today. I’ve been starting and re-thinking ideas of what to do with Teresa’s (ABC Prompt) for over 2 hours. Oye! For that matter, your’s too. 🙄

    I have been reprimanded for describing days like these. Apparently, we are not supposed to admit to them. Warts and all, has always been my mantra, for I want the world to know I am human (and occasionally stupid!)
