Z is for Zilch

FE58492C-6D4C-4ECB-BCF1-FF260933D86EI’ve got zilch, zero, zip. So it’s a damn good thing that today is the last day of the 2019 A to Z Challenge. Because I’m used up. There’s just nothing left for me to give. And I didn’t even have a theme for this 26-post alphabet challenge, like many bloggers who participated in this challenge did. I was free to post about whatever popped into my tiny little head. And even with that freedom, it was a burden.

So it’s over. For another year. If I’m still around and still blogging in April 2020, I’ll have to think long and hard about whether or not to participate again in next year’s A to Z Challenge.

Of course, should I decide to do it again next April, I can always just recycle my 2018 A to Z Challenge posts, since the odds are that many of you won’t still be blogging in a year.

It’s true. I read a couple of articles I found recently on the internet — so you know they’re accurate — when I Googled “What is the average lifespan of a new blog?” One article said that the average lifespan of a new blog is about 100 days. Another site estimated that new blogs these days typically have a four to six month lifespan.

And for those few of you who will still be here next April and who may have diligently read each and every one of my posts for this year’s challenge, you probably didn’t read, much less remember, any of my posts from last year’s challenge. Thus, by next year, they’ll all seem new to you.

In fact, do any of you who were around for the A to Z Challenge in 2018 even remember what my Z-post was last year?

Hint: it wasn’t “Z is for Zilch.”

I don’t think I was following you last year (always sounds creepy to me…), so maybe I need to take a peek back in time. Congrats on making it to Z – I also had no theme, but think maybe next year I need to go back to one.

I’ll be here — I’ve always had a blog, and it ain’t going anywhere unless I’m found floating tits-up in this little fishbowl we think is life and flushed into the Great Beyond…but I’ll bet some safe money I don’t do the A2Z again — too much like work.

You’re right! It was zig-zag! How did you remember that? I had to go back and look it up!

Another way to look at this is that you have 11 months to pick out a topic for next year.

First off, great job on doing the A to Z posts. I enjoyed them all. Secondly I have survived almost 8 months. That are 240 days, give or take a few. So I am hoping to be around next year to read your A to Z posts, that is if you decide to do it.

Well if I wasn’t deep in snow and stuck with no internet, I might look it up, but I’ve been here for three years and plan on staying. I may rethink participation next time too.

I wasn’t following you last year, but I can go look! 😉 I thought your efforts towards the A-Z challenge were unique, but I admit that I’m looking forward to a return of your provocative questions..

I was just thinking, after reading the first response to your new provocative question, it turn out that we a!ready have a “generation z.” So, now what?

At least you gave it the old college try. I know I can’t possibly keep up. However Z would be my favorite – zither, zoos and zebras – oh yeah!

A2Z sucked! I doubt I’ll be doing it again, which will free me from guilt if I feel like skipping all the other A2Z posts. I don’t remember how long I’ve been following you, but since I don’t recall A2Z before this year, I don’t feel bad saying I don’t remember yours.

I’ve had this blog since March 2011, but I’ve always been an outlier.

I’m inclined, at this point, to skip the A2Z thing next year. I post multiple times a day, anyway.

I for one will still be around next year. I’ve been blogging since 2008 but I don’t know what you posted for the letter Z last year. Should I? I was never good at Alphabe Thursday so I know I need to schedule my posts around a certain theme otherwise my brain goes in every direction imaginable. Good for you though, that you are able to blog willy nilly and Congrats for making it through another AtoZchallenge!

Zombies and Zorses, huh? Interesting. By the way, my Z post last year was “Zig-Zag.”

🙂 yes, I had to look for last years post and I remember zig-zags were the most popular rolling paper of it’s kind back in the day when we smoked joints and passed it around lol.

I think I was following you then… but I am lucky to remember my own posts from the day before so, yes 2018 post will be “new” to me. I thought the A to Z challenge was pretty fun but I am kind of happy it is May now.
