I Need a Break

E219EC84-BC19-4424-ACE3-4F96DC9A9A2F“How’s the book coming along, Sheri?” her agent asked.

“I think my next few chapters are going to be delayed a bit,” Sheri answered.

“Delayed?” Jonathan said. “You know that we committed to the publisher to deliver a chapter a month.”

“I know,” Sheri said, “but I need a break. I have this craving to travel to Asia. I only need about a month to clear my head, and when I get back, I promise I’ll work extra hard to get the book done by the end of the year.”

Well, if you don’t deliver, I am sure the publisher won’t renew and we’ll both be screwed and maybe even sued for breach of contract,” Jonathan, clearly angry, said. “So you go ahead and run to Asia, satisfy this crazy craving of yours, but when you get this nonsense out of your system, you’d better be prepared to work your little butt off.”

“I will, I promise,” Sheri said. Then she jumped up and hugged Jonathan. “I love you, Daddy.”
