Former Vice President Joe Biden is considering throwing his hat into the already crowded ring of Democratic hopefuls to run against the Orange Moron in 2020. But tactile Joe is running into trouble.
Two women have come forward in the past few days claiming inappropriate behavior on the part of Uncle Joe. One woman said that he came up behind her at a political rally, put his hands on her shoulders, smelled her hair, and gave her a “slow kiss” on the back of her head. Another woman said that he rubbed noses with her during a 2009 political fundraiser.
“It wasn’t sexual, but he did grab me by the head,” the second woman said. “He put his hand around my neck and pulled me in to rub noses with me.”
Biden has a reputation as a “touchy-feely” guy, and admits that he is a “tactile” person. But it seems to me that his behavior is more of an idiosyncrasy than anything sexual.
Biden is not my first choice to be the Democratic nominee, but I find it a bit peculiar that Democrats are so up-in-arms about these allegations. What is the upside to making a such big deal out of these likely innocent acts? I’m not saying that these situations were, in these #MeToo days, appropriate, but I do believe, with absolute certainty, that it’s a stretch to think he was being sexually abusive to these women.
And come on, folks. For Donald Trump, sexually inappropriate behavior is a common occurrence. Donald Trump was caught on video tape bragging that, as a “star,” he could grab women by their vaginas (i.e., sexual assault). Donald Trump has been accused by upwards of 20 women of being sexually inappropriate with them. Donald Trump paid hush money to a former Playboy bunny and to an adult film actress that he had extramarital affairs with in order to prevent those affairs from becoming public during his campaign.
Republicans continue to embrace their totally immoral, sexually abusive President, while Democrats are wringing their hands because Joe Biden sniffed one woman’s hair and had an Eskimo kiss with another. Compared with Trump, Uncle Joe is a choirboy.
There’s no question that people should respect women who have come forward about unwanted physical contact. They deserve to be heard and believed about how they were made to feel. There’s also no doubt that Joe Biden needs to stop sniffing women’s hair and rubbing their noses. And Biden must also learn to be a less “tactile” politician.
At the same time, it’s critical to understand that not every offense is of equal severity. And it’s also important to recognize when the alleged perpetrators are acting with malevolence (e.g., Donald Trump) or are just clueless.

Speaking of Canada, one of my sons just bought a certified used, and huge, pickup truck… which somehow got to a Midwest car dealership. It’s a 2014 and like new.

I like “Joe” as a person, and I think he was a near-perfect vice president. He’s started a run for president at least twice before, and something always comes up. He’s way (way-way) better than Trump, and I wouldn’t say bad stuff about him. But we have other options who are more progressive.

Nope — every single one of them has identified me and mine as their sworn enemy. (shrug) Fine, they can have it their way, but I have no slightest intention of getting on the bandwagon to burn my own house to the ground. There are anti-free-speech, anti-American, anti-everything forces afoot in those “Progressive” ideologies, and they’ve made it crystal clear that they despise everything me and mine are. Trump’s a clown. The “progressive” left is literally dangerous, and are in the process of trying to change our entire Constitution, government, and way of life wholesale. Agree with everything you say about the Orange Maroon, and of course I’d vote for any Democrat over him, but it’s a nope for me on Joe at the mo. I won’t support him in the primary when there are much better candidates, in particular Senator Harris, who has been virtually ignored by the “liberal media” ever since men jumped into the race. This utterly enrages me! She’s a great candidate who’s raised a pile of money.
And I don’t see why we need to coddle Joe, just because he’s not as gross as some men. Why didn’t he have the sense years ago to quit doing this handsy crap? Poor judgment imo. And I’m tired of him apologizing for not doing more for Anita Hill. HE DIDN’T HAVE A SPINE IS WHY. Bleh 👎🏻

I like Joe. Always have, always will. We hail from the same neck of the woods.
These instances do not upset me except that I must wonder about the motivation of the complainants. There was no malice or untoward behavior, just whiny-ass nonsense that sounds like my kids in the back seat of the car. “He touched me. She made a face at me. Mother he is touching me again.” Good grief!
For the record, the photo you used is a video out-take of when her hubby was standing there introducing her and Joe provided friendship and support. She explained her gratitude for the moment that gave her courage.

I would tell my kids not to touch each other if it was bothering someone (unless one had started a fight and the other was fighting back, sometimes even then). All boys.
By the way, I once (only once, way back in the eighties before I’d heard anyone else say such a thing) included the perception of women as children in an English paper. (I saw it demonstrated with magazine advertisements at the time.)
Hey; someone just reminded me that today is “equal pay Day” (about equal pay for women). People have to get all through three months and extra days to reach equality from the year before. And that doesn’t even address what has to happen for children if women have children.
As for the specific topic at hand, different women and different situations can vary. The woman in the picture already knew him — whereas the woman whose hair Joe sniffed was more in the category of knowing of him (his helping both of them doesn’t change that). Now, even so, a waiter got that close to my hair more than once recently. It didn’t bother me. It was a somewhat noisy place, and that helped. But so what? People can listen. If I’d said to the guy that it bothered me, I think he would’ve quit. (That is in part because of consciousness being raised recently such that he wouldn’t likely — I hope — make fun of my words.) The lady with the shoulders and hair 😏 had to concentrate on other activity at the time.

And guess what? I’m “making things up” to imagine, too, that the guy at the restaurant wouldn’t be a jerk… at least in a professional setting where he wants a tip. Or where there are witnesses. In general in life I hope for the best, though (even without a witness).

Senator Chuck Grassley is the committee chair, and the other Republicans named in the meme are part of the committee’s majority group. The opportunity for senators to question witnesses appearing before a Senate committee is not limited to members of the majority party:
