Twittering Tales — Politically Incorrect

EF3017AE-8182-4D8C-B7CF-4935AD54C653“I’m glad that the company that made those little Valentine’s Day heart candies isn’t selling them this year,” Carol said.

“Why not? I liked them,” Donna said. “I thought they were sweet, both in sentiment and in taste.”

“They just aren’t appropriate in this day and age. #MeToo.”

FYI, the New England Confectionery Company, or Necco, the company that made these candy hearts, known as “Sweethearts,” declared bankruptcy last year. Since then, the rights to Sweethearts were acquired by Spangler Candy Company last September. Because of the change, Sweethearts will not be sold for Valentine’s Day this year, but will be available again next year.

According to my extensive research, these small, heart-shaped candies are made by a different company in the UK. So they probably are available there.

Interesting bit of news regarding the company that makes these. Best left for children’s parties I think, when they make a comeback. How in the world does one get past “hello” in these hyper-sensitive times? 😳

If it’s possible to separate us as a society, the government will approve “it”…. Whether it be silly little heart candies or traditional Christmas songs.

In this case, it wasn’t the government’s doing. It was the bankruptcy of the company that manufactures them. Too bad. As I a kid, I thought exchanging these “Sweethearts” was fun. And I also used to like the candy called NECCO wafers, made by the same company. They’re gone, too.

😂😂😂 Yaz! If it’s too the point where candies are influencing your emotions of trauma, quit playing with your food.

So, are they bringing Necco wafers back next year too? If I recall those came in different flavors, but were all chalky.

According to Wikipedia, In September 2018, Spangler, the company that bought the bankrupt company that produced Necco Wafers, announced plans to return the Necco Wafer to the market, with a target date of November 2019.
