Time Management

E610176D-A8AF-4C01-83E9-05D1524B8714It’s late Saturday night my time and I’m finding that I really need to make more of an effort to manage my time better. Sometimes I feel like I’m going through a vicious cycle with my blog. For example, I barely read anything posted by other bloggers today. And all bloggers know that interacting with other bloggers is integral to the blogging experience. But no matter how much I plead for more hours in the day, I always seem to fall short.

Well, tomorrow is another day. Maybe I’ll do better. Oh wait. Tomorrow is Super Bowl Sunday.

Oh well. Maybe I’ll do better on Monday.

Written for these daily prompts: Ragtag Daily Prompt (effort), Your Daily Word Prompt (vicious), Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (anything), Word of the Day Challenge (integral), and Daily Addictions (plead).

I hear you! When you think about the billions of blogs in WP and only 24 hours a day (16 more or less really, depending on how many you sleep), then add in living in reality, writing your own stuff, etc. there is a sense, at least for me, that I’m always behind. Too much to read and write and never enough time. Hoping you have a good time with Super Bowl and watch lots of entertaining commercials.

I hope that both the game and the commercials will be good.

It’s always a race against time. We need time turners!

Yesterday was a good day for me time-wise, but I only wrote one post and that was scheduled from the day before. I didn’t read many either. Out of curiosity I just checked my stats. Big dip to under 100. Good thing I don’t monetize!

Oh how quickly we are forgotten when we don’t produce!

Strange how language evolves, I can remember when monetize wasn’t a word and according to my British spell checker it still isn’t! Rather as using “like” as a punctuation mark is now the norm.

I think it’s an age old thing Fandango, none of us have the time to do everything we would like to do. Of course we all have time, but as Li sais at the top, ‘when you have to fit in your real life, your other interests and hobbies, in your case just watching the super bowl. Of course life is in the integral part to life, if we don’t live life we become stale. I always feel so damned guilty when blogging. I said to Kristian last month, if l give up blogging it will not be because l have written myself dry, but because l can never seemingly get my balance right, and l do feel bad about it on a very regular basis. I feel selfish, that l want to write my stuff and then leave my self too little time to read other’s writings.

Paula, also summed it up very nicely, that the interaction we don’t do, or the writing we don’t do, ensures our stats drop, but quite rightly so, if we were monetising our blogs of course we would have to be keeping at it all the times.

I am just one of those saddos that has made blogging my full time hobby, so therefore l don’t need to spread myself too thinly, but even that’s not healthy.

Yes, finding that balance between living life in the real world and spending time within the blogosphere is a real challenge. It’s too easy to become addicted to and/or obsessive about our blogs and find that you’re neglecting real world responsibilities and face-to-face interactions so that you can write and read posts. That happened to me in 2015, after almost 10 years of blogging, which is why I took a two-year hiatus. I am working hard this time to try to achieve balance so that it doesn’t happen again.
