Dammit WordPress

b558d83d-f9dd-4807-b3d0-dc6ebf12b60dThis is what I’m talking about, WordPress! What is going on with the Reader in the iOS app? I know that there wasn’t a five hour gap where no blogger I follow posted anything last night! So why the fuck aren’t their posts showing up in my Reader on the app.

Hang on a second, WordPress. I’m going to log into Safari on my iPhone. Give me a second, okay?cda1004d-9aa2-4bb8-9e9a-bee5864797c0Okay, I’m back. Do you see that, WordPress? The “missing” posts are there in the Reader on the web browser, but not on your app.

Get your shit together, dammit.

Very good, but sadly I have absolutely no idea what you’re going on about. It’s when people start talking computer speak that I know I’m getting old. I have no idea what a reader on an app is and I use my phone as a phone, so it all means nothing to me!

Even on my iPhone and iPad, I don’t use the crazy app. It never works well for me in iOS. I use my Chrome browser to on WP on both of these and the reader on there is, well, kind of tiny and mixed up too. Best to have a PC for now to calm your WP frustrations because I don’t think they are listening to us.

Be careful using a PC for the reader, too. Some of the ads on peoples blogs have viruses. They got me twice already. Luckily, my virus software caught it before anything happened. WP is really dropping the ball.

Really, sheesh, thanks for the warning Dorinda. Lucky you had got a good antivirus.

That’s one of the reasons I opted to pay for an upgraded plan…to get rid of the ads on my blog.

Exactly. I think it’s also more professional, especially if you’re trying to make a name for yourself or your product.

Ah, WordPress being WordPress. I know I’m missing all kinds of posts because I basically rely on Reader to bring them to me. I have a few on my RSS feed (Inoreader in case you’re curious), which totally don’t show up on my Reader, so I know the Reader is being wonky. But I’ve come to expect nothing but incompetence from WordPress. Having said that, I really haven’t found a better alternative.

Yeah, that’s true. It’s the best of what’s out there. Not a high bar.

Sadly, it’s not only in the realm of social forums or blogs that this inability to keep the code platforming solid enough to function properly is a frustration.

I suspect, but hope that it’s not true, that you’re ‘pissing into the wind’ asking WP to get their shit in a pile. I don’t think they know HOW, being young and stupid. Just my opinion. And I sincerely hope this doesn’t take 3 or 8 or 5 hours to post…day-um!!

I’m old fashioned, having a laptop so rely on my reader for posts, though they don’t always come in and challenges I’m aware of I have to search for. My PAYG phone is about 20 years old, making and receiving calls and texts only.

I was going to make a joke, and incredibly politically incorrect joke (as per anyone in the US) – but I can see you are frustrated so I will keep my lip buttoned.
I have had similar delays in posts appearing but it is with a box that says “load older posts”. I had never seen that before last week.

I posted a new blog post this morning at 9 am. The post is visible on my blog but doesn’t show up in Reader on any device or my browser. Just not there, and I follow myself. This has happened before. I contacted them and they responded but I don’t know if It ever made it to Reader. Given I have a small group of followers, not being in Reader impacts my engagement.

I noticed another glitch today… When I checked my stats on my desktop computer, the views were scaringly low. I thought “oh, well, it’s one of these days…” and then, I looked on my tablet, and found that I had almost three times the views… LOL
