It was not a very good year.
A long and chaotic one, I fear.
Very little about which to cheer.
No it wasn’t very much fun.
But it’s finally almost done.
This post was written for the In Other Words prompt from Patricia’s Place. The challenge this week is to write a story or poem of five lines or fewer using the word “done.”
Oh, I don’t know. Every day I spend with my grandchildren is a good one.

Best wishes to you for 2019, Fandango 🙂
I have a mixed personal review and experience of 2018.
The first half of it was an aggregation of all my worst fears, ganging up on me until they broke me.
Then I was in a kind of stasis for a while. There’s this brain science theory that when faced with intense fear your brain can rewire itself – both in a good way and in a bad way. You can consciously fiddle with the wiring in certain circumstances… which may make things worse or better.
The second half of 2018 has been a slow relaxing into things which before would have had me running for the hills. There’s something healing in dealing with the shit you never wanted to deal with. The last decade has kept teaching me this lesson… hopefully I’ve learned it now and we can move onto something more fun.
I’ve enjoyed the last part of 2018, it’s a first in some ways to like this end of year time for me. But hey, the long chaotic is kind of normal for me, so I guess I’m at home in the mess, I know my way around these streets. 😉

I’m glad that the second half of the year was good for you. From a strictly personal standpoint, 2018 wasn’t bad, but no man is an island, and it’s hard to separate the chaos and the madness swirling all around me from my narrow, personal perspectives. So in the macro sense, 2018 sucked. I’m hoping that 2019 will be better. For everyone.

I’m afraid to say it can’t get any worse… I will just hope like you that 2019 is better all around. Happy New Year Fandango!

There are times when I, too, fear but not for long. When I see the beauty of creation I know there is goodness under the grime just waiting to burst forth. Thank you for being part of the challenge.
