Donald Trump surprised both the State Department and the Defense Department when he decided today — apparently unilaterally — to rapidly withdraw all U.S. troops in Syria. He essentially discarded the entire Syria and Iran strategy in a single, inexplicable stroke, giving up any and all U.S. influence in the region, and disregarding the advice of his top national security officials. Analysts worry that his decision will have devastating and dangerous consequences for the United States, the region, and the Syrian people.
Trump tweeted “We have defeated ISIS in Syria, my only reason for being there during the Trump Presidency.” Naturally, Vladimir Putin was delighted, and praised Trump’s move. Without America’s presence in Syria, the country — and the region — will be vulnerable to greater influence from Russia.
WTF? When will his Republican lackeys in Congress denounce this traitor to our country? Trump has defied his key military and national security advisors through a seemingly secretive process that seems to benefit Putin and Russia while being detrimental to the country he is supposed to be leading.
This man is America’s worst nightmare.

I was going to say “you’re going to love this” but you probably won’t. Just read a news story saying Jim Mattis, who I have a tremendous amount of respect for, is leaving as Pentagon chief by the end of February. In other words, Jim Mattis told Donald Trump exactly what he thought of Trump’s Syria troop draw down, and Trump didn’t want to hear it.

Worst week in ten years with the stock market, and worst end of year since 1931. As usual, even the markers Republicans say to look to are trashed.
There is speculation that Turkey’s “ask” in order to let go of the Khashoggi (journalist) murder inside their country is that Trump let them at the Kurds.
