FOWC with Fandango — Floor

FOWCWelcome to December 6, 2018 and to Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (aka, FOWC). It’s designed to fill the void after WordPress bailed on its daily one-word prompt.

I will be posting each day’s word just after midnight Pacific Time (US).

Today’s word is “floor.”

Write a post using that word. It can be prose, poetry, fiction, non-fiction. It can be any length. It can be just a picture or a drawing if you want. No holds barred, so to speak.

Once you are done, tag your post with #FOWC and create a pingback to this post if you are on WordPress. Or you can simply include a link to your post in the comments.

And be sure to read the posts of other bloggers who respond to this prompt. You will marvel at their creativity.

The word for today is FLOOR.

Wife and I retired more than 20 years ago. I took my amateur radio hobby into retirement with me. Radio and WordPress have helped me keep my sanity (I think). However, last February we relocated into a smaller apartment complex, a place that frowns on ugly ham radio antennas. My clandestine, low-gain, out-of-sight antenna doesn’t provide a healthy signal. The signal is overwhelmed by plasma TVs, wall warts, WiFi, computer monitors. All of these noise generators had remained somewhat subdued by a higher gain antenna, keeping the noise FLOOR at a tolerable level. However, since February the noisee FLOOR has gone through the roof.

I sure wish weather would believe the old adage, “in on the ground floor” and “the only way to go is up”. Five in the morning and we’ve reached our high for the day. Nature is a jerk.
