FOWC with Fandango — Fluid

FOWCWelcome to November 22, 2018 and Happy Thanksgiving to those of us who live in the U.S. This is Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (aka, FOWC). It’s designed to fill the void after WordPress bailed on its daily one-word prompt.

I will be posting each day’s word just after midnight Pacific Time (US).

Today’s word is “fluid.”

Write a post using that word. It can be prose, poetry, fiction, non-fiction. It can be any length. It can be just a picture or a drawing if you want. No holds barred, so to speak.

Once you are done, tag your post with #FOWC and create a pingback to this post if you are on WordPress. Or you can simply include a link to your post in the comments.

And be sure to read the posts of other bloggers who respond to this prompt. You will marvel at their creativity.

Samantha was reading at a website describing and defining many sex and gender terms (from intersexual to pangender to transgender to neuter to typical ipso gender and so on) for people — categories — and, not to stop there, designations for types of attraction (aesthetic, platonic, sensual, sexual, romantic, uni-). The writer for the site clarified that attraction is not love (and that one can be attracted to someone they hate). Extensively verbal is the way Samantha began to experience the vibe.

There was also a page about denial of existence and experience, concomitant abuse, and activism to counteract and hopefully end these wrongs.

Tom happened upon Samantha as she was deep in thought and asked what Samantha was doing. Reading., Samantha rolled her eyes from the screen to Tom.

“Reading what?” Titillated and joking, or dismissive rather than thoughtful, was what Tom was really going for — no matter what anything meant; ever.

“This is a strange term,” said Samantha. Strange… yet recognizable. Caedo-attraction. I’ve been fluid in the sense of having been attracted in the past.

For some reason, the link went to my spam file. I cleared it, but I’m glad you posted your comment with the link.
