Next Tuesday is Election Day in the United States. Without exaggeration, I can say that this is the most important midterm election in our lifetimes, in that the fate of our American democracy and way of life is at stake.
I never thought I’d see happen what has happened to this country since Donald Trump became president. He has nearly torn the very fabric of America apart. And the only option we have to stop him from tearing it to shreds is to go out and vote on or before next Tuesday. Vote to elect people to Congress who will enable it function, as the Constitution requires, as an appropriate check and balance on Trump, something the Republican-led Congress has refused to do.
So if we care for this country, we must vote. We can’t afford to sit on the sidelines and depend upon others. Voting is our civic responsibility, our duty.
But, hey, I’m just an old man. I may not be alive a decade from now, so while it breaks my heart to witness the events of the past two years, I won’t suffer the brunt of the damage Trump has done and, if left unchecked, will continue to do.
But my children and grandchildren will. So I implore you millennials (and post-millennials who are old enough to vote) — you whose future is on the line — to stand up and be counted. You need to be Supermen and Superwomen. I know it’s a corny cliche, but you need to fight for truth, justice, and the American way.

Trump can’t tear anything apart without the support of voters electing him into office. He doesn’t have that power, and that’s the entire problem with this country…. We’ve become complacent in comfortable, as long as the misshap doesn’t directly impact us.

Trump did not win the popular vote. More Americans voted against him than for him. He believes he can do anything he wants (e.g., overturning birthright citizenship granted by the Constitution and affirmed by the Supreme Court, by signing an executive order) and the Republicans in Congress twiddle their thumbs while our country is figuratively burning. That’s why it’s so important that people get out and vote. The future of our country is at stake.

Some of the people who voted for him thought he was being silly to get elected and that then he would act better after being in office. They were obviously wrong.

I had lunch a few days ago with a group of ladies from my graduating high school class and was unpleasantly surprised to hear the two most vocal classmates supporting trump. One comment was about how the middle man is tired of getting stuck with “everything” and “that’s why Trump won by so many votes.” Choosing not to subject myself to debate with people who’ve made up their minds fiercely and absolutely, I made a few remarks about bipartisan efforts and took the continuing trump support as my cue to leave. I hope they got the hint. Anyway, my vote cancelled out one of them. It was an interesting and baffling experience.

Thank you. We need every voice saying this as often as possible. There are 3 more days of early voting in NC and only 6 days until Election Day and I can’t deal with a single person saying they’re sitting out because their vote doesn’t matter.

That “my vote doesn’t matter” attitude is why Trump is president even though he lost the popular vote by three million. Every vote matters.

Sometimes two votes in one precinct makes a difference!

So if two people who each think their one vote won’t matter go ahead and try, or if one person takes a friend with, those two added to the rest could equal a better result.

I lost it yesterday when I heard my vote doesn’t matter. I was all get in the car, I am driving you to the polls! I voted the first day of early voting. Could not wait, crowds be damned. Record turnout so far. I am cautiously optimistic and scared sH!tless all at the same time.

Trump is not on the ballot, but as far as I’m concerned, every vote for a Republican incumbent is a vote for Trump.
