“Whoa, Diana,” Anna said. “What brought that on?”
“I was looking through my desk drawer earlier today and came across one of my first articles that was ever published,” Diana said. “And reading it made me realize that I have been wearing a disguise for years now.”
“I don’t understand, Diana,” Anna said. “What disguise?”
“I’m a political columnist, Anna,” Diana said. “I work for a conservative publication that has been providing me with a comfortable safety net for so long that I have allowed it to unduly influence my writing.”
“I still don’t understand,” Anna said.
“That article I found reminded me that I used to have principles, scruples, and that I didn’t toe the line and spew conservative talking points,” Diana explained. “Reading what I wrote so many years ago made me realize that I’ve turned a blind eye to all of the chaos and damage this administration is causing.”
“So what are you going to do about it?” Anna asked.
“I have a contact at MSNBC,” Diana said. “I’m going to reach out to him. It’s time to start telling the truth.”
