Telling the Truth

93533211-5278-418F-98FF-25BFCBD15913“Life has lost all of its luster,” Diana lamented. “I’m so exasperated that I can’t stand breathing anymore.”

“Whoa, Diana,” Anna said. “What brought that on?”

“I was looking through my desk drawer earlier today and came across one of my first articles that was ever published,” Diana said. “And reading it made me realize that I have been wearing a disguise for years now.”

“I don’t understand, Diana,” Anna said. “What disguise?”

“I’m a political columnist, Anna,” Diana said. “I work for a conservative publication that has been providing me with a comfortable safety net for so long that I have allowed it to unduly influence my writing.”

“I still don’t understand,” Anna said.

“That article I found reminded me that I used to have principles, scruples, and that I didn’t toe the line and spew conservative talking points,” Diana explained. “Reading what I wrote so many years ago made me realize that I’ve turned a blind eye to all of the chaos and damage this administration is causing.”

“So what are you going to do about it?” Anna asked.

“I have a contact at MSNBC,” Diana said. “I’m going to reach out to him. It’s time to start telling the truth.”

First of all, you’re mixing up facts and truth again. Secondly, they’re the liberal version of Fox News, highly, skewed left. I like news sources that A) Have as little bias as possible either way, and B) report as factually as possible. True, very few of those exist, which is why I also look at both leftist and rightist sources. Reality exists somewhere in-between them. I don’t want to just get my info from the inside of an echo chamber.

Yes, MSNBC leans left, but it was never a shill for Obama like Fox News is for Trump.

Reality doesn’t exist “somewhere in-between” — because significant information is largely left out (or completely misrepresented on FOX and covered rarely on MSNBC, covered more so in the past there). MSNBC doesn’t completely screw with people’s heads like FOXnews (and their ilk).

[It does help to have a background of awareness as to what the supposed “sides” have been doing for decades and more. But we need to get beyond sides. The history goes beyond the day an evangelical was “saved” or the time Bill was impeached.]

And really, the racism (which includes the white aggrievement) is intolerable (in terms of acceptance as reasonable).

Good story…too often we conform and lose a part of us as we age.
