My normal routine when I wake up in the morning, before I even drag myself out of bed, is to reach for my iPhone, open up my WordPress app, check how many views I’ve gotten so far, and then go to my Reader and start reading posts that come in overnight while I was sleeping from bloggers I follow.
I scroll back to the last post I read the night before and use that as my starting point. Then I start with the first post that came in after that last one.
But yesterday morning I noticed something disturbing in my WordPress Reader. There was a four hour gap between the last post I read the night before and the next post that appeared in my Reader. That’s weird, I thought. So I then opened up my iPhone’s Safari browser, logged into WordPress, went to my Reader, scrolled down to the last post I’d read the night before, and there was virtually no gap between the last post I read and the next post after that.WTF? What happened to all of those posts in that four hour gap? Why aren’t they showing up in my WordPress app Reader but are showing up in my WordPress.com Safari browser Reader?
So I opened up a ticket with the Happiness Engineers and they said that I should “Try scrolling down in the ‘Followed Sites’ page in the mobile app. This will trigger an extra refresh.”
I tried that and it didn’t work. I responded back to let them know, but haven’t heard back yet.
So this is a long-winded (or verbose?) way of saying that it’s likely that I may have missed a bunch of your posts, particularly if you posted them between 11 pm and 7 am Pacific Time (US). I’m not sure how long this issue has been going on, but if you think you posted a “must read” post in the — or my — overnight hours, during the past few days, I probably didn’t see it. So feel free to include a link to any such posts in a comment on this post.
Thanks.
The first thing I do when I get up in the morning is pee. I keep my iPhone in my office rather than next to my bed, and my wife makes me turn of my computers and unplug the DSL modem because (supposedly) the EM radiation isn’t good for you. I’m not sure if I buy all that, but I suppose it couldn’t hurt.

I pee shortly after checking my iPhone. I can usually wait because I was up peeing between 3 and 4 am. Hmm. Is this TMI?

Not for me. People our age generally get up around that hour to pee, so it’s old news.

Yes! That’s what I was complaining about too.

I have had that issue as well, so I regularly go back and forth from my reader, my follower and my following lists.

It’s a real hassle, isn’t it?

Good lord if that was the only funky thing going on with my reader! Time gaps started yesterday morning for me…then came page after page of the same post…then came a flood of posts from all different days…today, I’m on to funky things happening with my following list…people I have followed for months are now missing. Another lovely day in WP land I guess. lol (btw, I have Powered by Robots to thank for me seeing your post, it still is not in my reader). I use both my phone and laptop now to read WP, but they are both messing up.

Yeah, the so called happiness engineers at WordPress seem to be screwing things up big time.

My routine after getting up is having breakfast whilst I checked emails and my reader. I’ve noticed that posts come in out of order to how I’ve read them, and admit I have probably missed quite a few. I’m playing catch up just now and it’s taking an age.

Er, according to Teresa (Haunted Wordsmith) and Marilyn (Serendipity..) WP is getting ready for another massive ‘site revamp’ and things are (as Teresa put it) “funky” all over the damned place. Well I didn’t expect better….. 😡

I don’t understand why they keep doing this? It’s just aggravating to those of us who use the app when they keep changing things.

In theory it’s for “your” benefit (i.e. the app users). If it’s annoying on the app side, imagine the state of things on the lap top or desktop side…. 😡 WordPress. Being annoying since at least May of 2018…!

I quit using my WordPress app because of the same problem. Now I read posts on my laptop.

I rarely use my laptop anymore, so I’m hoping that the tech gurus at WordPress will come up with a solution soon.

Here’s hoping they do.

I have a short list of people I follow, and I go to sites individually…

No matter how bad it is, it’s going to get worse. They have an epic upgrade in the works. That’s probably where the mess is beginning. Everytime I look in the reader, all my connections are rearranged, half are missing, some I can’t find. WP has NEVER done an upgrade that didn’t result in a catastrophe for users, so buckle up, m’lad. It’s going to be a very bumpy ride.

Great. Something to look forward to. When is this massive upgrade going to happen? Maybe they’ll leave the iOS mobile app alone!

I have noticed that in the past and just switched to my laptop. Hope the happiness engineers get it fixed!

They’ve identified it as a bug, but so far it remains unfixed.

At least they know a bug when they see one.
