Sleep Through It All

ECD76819-3150-40E2-B7F0-7F41704F6458It has become apparent to me that a darkness has descended upon America. Openly expressing misogyny, racism, xenophobia, and homophobia are now considered by many on the right to be acceptable. Nazis are identified by our commander-in-chief as “very fine people.” Ruthless dictators and autocratic leaders are embraced while friends and allies are scorned.

Most past presidents, when there is a deep divide within the country, would have been trying to bring people together with speeches of hope and common goals. But not Donald Trump. His inciteful rhetoric fans the flames hatred and divisiveness.  He’s even granted the authority to the Customs and Border Patrol to arrest and detain immigrants seeking asylum and to separate children from their parents, which is totally despicable.

The political divide in the United States has been fermenting for years, but it’s still hard for me to fathom how rapidly it has surfaced since that megalomaniac was elected president just two years ago. Breaking all of the rules of political norms and decorum has now become routine in this country.

These days I wish I were a nice, plump bear. That way I could just go off someplace and hibernate for a few months until the cold, dark days we are presently experiencing will have passed.

Taking the excuse that we are nearing the season for bears to hibernate, on a tangent topic, on top of everything else, I am dealing with (autumn) oak leaf mite bites… but it’s only another reason that fits the timing of feeling like that bear in the picture. They were in a different neighborhood last year. I visited, a few days ago, a neighborhood farther North, and didn’t expect that they might be simply moving their location slowly. [And I have allergic reactions now, while I didn’t have any allergies for most of my life.] Anyway, I’m going to try and make good use of feeling like hiding out for few days (or more) and allow myself to mourn and evaluate.

Yes, there were days when I wondered what life would be like if I was just a panda bear munching on bamboo.

It would be lovely to sleep through it all but then we deserve what we wake up to, don’t we?

Panda bear probably ok for now; wild bear like a black one, or worse, polar, I don’t know …

No matter how long one hibernates, one has to wake up to the reality.

Have no worries…even worrying won’t solve anything, but it will make your health bad.. Something that I don’t want…
