I don’t believe that, even with Brett Kavanaugh sitting on the bench, the Supreme Court will overturn Roe v. Wade. But I do believe that, with Kavanuagh added to the bench, the Supreme Court will undermine Roe v. Wade.
A number of red states have passed, or are passing, laws that severely restrict access to abortion clinics, add almost insurmountable burdens, especially for the poor, to obtaining abortions, have imposed rules about waiting periods or the age of the fetus, and have established other limitations on permissible legal abortions in those states.
Many of these attempts by states to impose severely restrictive laws that essentially render abortions to be all but illegal have been appealed to federal courts and even to the Supreme Court in the past. And the courts have generally held that these state-imposed restrictions violate Roe v. Wade.
But since Trump became President almost two years ago, dozens of his picks for lower federal courts have already been installed, leaving a highly conservative imprint on the nation’s judiciary.
With Kavanaugh’s ascension to the Supreme Court, it will be less likely to hear appeals of state laws or rules and regulations that restrict abortion rights. And in those cases where the Court does deign to hear, it will be less likely to block or overturn such state restrictions.
So Roe v. Wade will not, in my opinion, be formally overturned. But by virtue of death by a thousand cuts coming from conservative red states, it will be rendered toothless.

SO well said! I believe the same since there may be enough checks and balances not to go full gangsta on Roe v Wade but ‘death by a thousand cuts’, is a very real eventuality. It’s tragic that our country has become so polarized, so hellbent on ‘winning’ over everything that even what should have been a thorough FBI investigation was a joke. I would like to say the tide will turn in a month but the ferocity of the other side to play dirty, make America 1939 may ‘Trump’ everything.

I agree. These attempts to overturn any progress made for actual people who work every day just to get by with all of his kingly authority and now the supreme court? Scary. He won’t ever walk in the shoes of an assaulted or pregnant woman. I’m stopping now, getting coffee and/or tranquilizers : )) JK, F.

You have a good following; lots of your followers have good numbers following – maybe if you all get together to make sure the T. name is Never Mentioned Again before the big thing happens, he won’t be able to do (or pay someone to do) his metrics to say how ‘popular’ he is, will sink into a funk, and disappear. It could happen. Name him not, let he become real.
Then the problem of having the people he’s put in places of high esteem will be given the opportunity to be shouted down (yeah, I know, I don’t even live there, but it’s a small world, and we feel it, too).

I am more concerned about BK’s unorthodox views about the executive branch in the system of checks and balances than Roe vs. Wade. I am also concerned about his views on torture, which were not discussed at hearings but part of his work with GWB.

The very first Amendment added to the Constitution was because of the federal courts stating they had the power given to them in the Constitution to take over when state courts were unable to come to a decision, therefore, appeals went up to fed courts. Within 13 months Congress passed and ratified that Amendment! So, that amendment would no longer protect the states from federal interference, if I understand it correctly. Also, the Federal laws trump state laws, but only if states are passing unconstitutional laws or not upholding them. States are sovereign So, you cant tell every State they can’t govern themselves? Am I wrong?

Me too, actually. And I thought it was interesting, so to speak, in Collins’ speech, that she scoffed at people who vote Republican all the time. She acted like it was silly to think a Republican-appointed judge would want to overturn RvW [while holding out this promise/ploy is how they got their power over many years and decades]. Yeah, they’re satisfied to let bosses make contraceptive decisions, satisfied to trick females into seeking help where they’re not going to get it… callous that there are emergencies (and not make referrals), satisfied not to teach anything about sex…
…satisfied to promote stinginess with workers as if it’s a moral imperative, satisfied to keep adding to the military budget for the sake of enriching those who expect it, satisfied with our moral failure in having tortured people — and satisfied with this nasty-excuse-for-a-man as a president saying we should do worse. The likelihood of stopping this horrid personage from much of anything is low. This very night, he went out and embedded lies (as usual) in his pep rally. He’s in the throes of whipping up as much violence as he can. For his sick fun.

Start suing state governments for not upholding your fundamental right to privacy. Don’t ever stop choosing to have an abortion if you want one. If you are charged for breaking their unconstitutional laws then ask how they found out and broke your HIPAA rights? Sue under Article 14 under the clauses of Equal Protection under the law and personal autonomy. Not one more woman should be a victim under the Constitution no matter what bogus laws they pass

Women in every state should begin protesting physicians offices where vasectomies are performed. Begin taking men to court for murdering millions of children by his selfish choice. Also, all men who use condoms, masturbate are murdering MILLIONS could be children. We need to know WHY are they choosing to do this and passing laws where every male must confess to their parents every time he masturbates, and since its so easily hidden, unlike women who are pregnant, every male at birth needs to be implanted with a device which alerts those around him every time he masturbates or uses a condom. Women, never have unprotected sex! Ever! Go online, purchase a Dildo, go make bank at a job you love and when you’re ready, adopt.
