“Where are you going, Floyd?” Andrea asked.
“I’m heading over to the hardware store.”
“What do you need at the hardware store?”
“I totally forgot that it was Andy’s birthday on Sunday, so I’m going to see if I can find something to get for him as a belated birthday present,” Floyd explained.
“But why the hardware store?”
“You know Andy,” Floyd said. “He likes to putter around in his basement. He’s actually a pretty good woodworker and he’s always fine-tuning his craft. So I’ll go to the hardware store to see if there’s something I can muster up in order to atone for not remembering his birthday.”
“That’s sweet of you, Floyd,” Andrea said. “And maybe, when you give him his present, you can ask him to teach you a few things about woodworking, since, in contrast to you, he’s quite handy around the house.”
Well, Andrea, we all have our special talents,” Floyd said, giving his wife a wink. “Andy’s in the basement playing with his hardware. I prefer to use my hardware in the bedroom.”
Andrea smiled. “Perhaps when you get back from the hardware store, we can go to the bedroom and fine-tune your craft.”
“You know, Andrea,” Floyd said, “I think the hardware store can wait until tomorrow.”
