FOWC with Fandango — Guess

FOWCWelcome to September 19, 2018 and to Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (aka, FOWC). It’s designed to fill the void after WordPress bailed on its daily one-word prompt.

I will be posting each day’s word just after midnight Pacific Time (US).

Today’s word is “guess.”

Write a post using that word. It can be prose, poetry, fiction, non-fiction. It can be any length. It can be just a picture or a drawing if you want. No holds barred, so to speak.

Once you are done, tag your post with #FOWC and create a pingback to this post if you are on WordPress. Or you can simply include a link to your post in the comments.

And be sure to read the posts of other bloggers who respond to this prompt. You will marvel at their creativity.

    I’m going back to doing one prompt per day. I know everyone seems to enjoy using all the prompts as puzzle pieces, but I find the results not particularly flowing or readable. It is not a style which suits me. Sometimes a couple of words work together naturally, but otherwise, one word will have to do and in some cases, no words but my own. These “pieced together” efforts are clever and sometimes funny, but they are not for me.

      Yes, sometimes it’s a struggle, especially when one or two of the words are rather unusual. Still, it’s a challenge and I will likely continue, even at the risk of some of them not quite hanging together and maybe sounding a bit contrived. But, since I appreciate your feedback, Marilyn, if you think I’m failing or trying too hard at it, let me know. I can always go back to the old WordPress approach of one prompt per day, even if it’s not my own.

        You want an honest answer? Your writing is not as good as it was. You’re trying too hard and it does sound contrived. I understand the fun of the puzzle, but writing isn’t — for me — a puzzle. It’s getting the sentences to roll smoothly. Making a point and possibly, some sense of the world.

        Everyone has to do it their own way, but a puzzle isn’t (for me) writing. It’s not working ideas and thoughts and feelings, just playing at words which is a whole different thing.
