After Further Consideration

DE80DA90-10E4-4EF2-AE81-66089046DF5DEarlier this morning, in response to Linda G. Hill’s Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompt, I referenced my very first post on this blog. In that post, I referred to myself as “a logical, rational, and reasonable person. I am not ruled by emotions but by facts, observations, and evidence.”

But now, after reading the headlines in my newsfeed, articles in the newspaper, and seeing highlights of Trump’s latest toilet tweets, I realized that what I wrote about how I’m not ruled by emotions is aspirational, not factual. Because when it comes to Donald Trump, my prized rationality is supplanted by unbridled, raw emotions.

I get so angry when I read about his tweets and his behavior that I want to toss my iPhone into the toilet. It takes every bit of self control I can muster to not throw the remote control at the TV each time I see his visage or hear his voice.

And so, for the sake of my own mental and emotional wellbeing, and using every ounce of logic, rationality, and reason I can generate, I have decided to abstain from writing any more posts about Donald Trump.

For the rest of the day, anyway.

I took a vow, that dreadful day in 2016, NEVER to willing view that crap fest, nor listen to him about ANYTHING and I don’t tweet. A thing I’ve become vastly grateful for, given the preference that pile of crap has for it. I haven’t broken my vow either. Now I do view his image, time to time, usually on someone else’s rant about some dumb f*ckery the fool has pulled AGAIN. And I admit to being dumb struck that the shit heel got away with treason and nobody did much except gasp and point fingers. Good on ya’ for taking a day of rest. We all can use THAT time to time.

Aspirations are good. Humanity is inevitable. And I do believe the only rational reaction to that man’s tweets is emotional. (Although I encourage you to keep protecting your iPhone because I don’t know that insurance covers death by rage due to 45.)

I’m sorry, but the very first thing I thought about when reading this was to name “he who shall not be named on your blog.” However, I thought better of it. I know I let certain people and events aggravate me, but then I reach a point where I have to stop for the sake of my peace of mind, realizing that no one can control my thoughts, emotions, or behavior unless I let them.

True, “no one can control my thoughts, emotions, or behavior unless [you] let them.” But they can affect your emotions, even if you don’t want them to.

You are probably going to think that I am a bad person, but I am actually glad to hear about the hurricane on the news, because it is giving me a break from Trump.

But Trump hates being upstaged by Hurricane Florence, which is why he created his shitstorm tweets about the death toll in Puerto Rico. He wanted to keep his name in the news.

maybe if everyone stops saying his name, he loses power … goes off to sulk in the corner, promises to never come out again unless the people show their love by speaking his name?

You and Garry. He gets so angry he doesn’t know what to do with himself. Just hearing the voice throws him into a rage.

I turn off or skip the voice like 99% of the time. Ain’t worth hearing it.
