Active Measures

66F69AD5-AD0B-4784-B117-2AC3D0D2250BI watched the movie “Active Measures” last night. I streamed it on Hulu. If watching that movie doesn’t set off alarm bells, nothing will. Even the most ardent Trump supporters will have to take pause if they see it. It exposes all of Vladimir Putin’s transgressions with respect to interference in the workings of democracies, and not just in the United States, but all across the globe.

Putin, according to the movie, has been engaged in his labor to make the world a more volatile place by undermining democracies and stoking division, dissension, and chaos in order regain for Russia the superpower status it had before the fall of the Soviet Union.

I know that conservatives, Republicans, and Trump’s lemmings, should they even bother to see the movie, will call it pure propaganda and fake news. But it doesn’t take the wisdom of the sage to see the truth behind it. And it’s scary how effective — and successful — Russia’s active measures have been. Very, very scary.

I loathe what’s happening to my country. I loathe what Vladimir Putin’s is doing to undermine our democracy, I loathe the Republicans in Congress who have allowed Trump to get away with this. And most of all, I loathe Donald Trump for being a traitor to his country.

If you Google, “are any conspiracy theories true?” you’ll come up with a bunch of results, once being 7 Conspiracy Theories That Are Actually True, so I suppose it’s all possible. I don’t pay for TV including streaming, so I will be unlikely to watch this film, nor, to be honest, do I want to watch it (or any other political “drivel”.) So now that you have watched the film, has it offered a solution? Conspiracy theories often are vehicles for winding up people’s emotions rather than vessels for communicating how to effect positive change. Facts are desirable and rational methods of inspiring change helpful.

I don’t think this movie was drivel. Far too many dots with connections between Trump and Putin. And yes, the solution is to pay attention and not to allow diversion and distraction to stand in the way of taking action.

What can be seen as truth by one will be seen as propagandists by other, so to fall into this trap is well unavoidable… This is always the result especially when the society is in a partisan mode…

Ok here’s the deal… if you’re a republican and you like what Trump is doing economically, maybe you like his conservative nominees for judges, maybe you like his hard line on Russia… wait not Russia I mean Canada, then find another person who doesn’t embarrass his country on a daily basis… there’s a host of republicans that will deliver these same things without all the idiotic other things Trump does!

Agreed. He embarrasses this country on a daily…I mean hourly…basis.
