Fox News host Laura Ingraham is at it again. The last time we heard the twisted “wisdom” of Ms. Ingraham, as I noted here, was a few weeks back when she lamented that, “Massive demographic changes have been foisted upon the American people, and they are changes that none of us ever voted for, and most of us don’t like.”
Well, Ms. Ingraham is back at it again. Only this time, she wants to turn America into China, where the state controls what its citizens can see and read on the internet by strictly controlling social media.
Ingraham suggested on her Friday night Fox News show that the American government should take over private social media networks so that they can be regulated.
“There’s a thought that, given the enormity of these corporations [Facebook and Twitter], and this is a public square today. This is the equivalent of what we used to see in the old town square was people with a bull horn. And so could there be a movement to treat them more like public utilities, so they have some quasi-government oversight of these entities?”
Ingraham claims that the tech industry is controlled by “intolerant” liberals on the West Coast. “The west coast,” she said, “otherwise known as the ‘left coast,’ is overwhelmingly left wing, overwhelmingly probably voted for Hillary. They say, this is just an algorithm.”
So Laura Ingraham wants the government to run Facebook and Twitter so that they won’t be biased against conservatives and Donald Trump.
And this follows the path set by her Dear Leader who, earlier this week, as I pointed out here, railed against how how searches for Donald Trump on Google always show negative news about him. So Trump directed Larry Kudlow, his Director of the National Economic Council and his chief economic adviser, to “take a look” at whether Google and its search engine should be regulated by the government.
So look out, America. Donald Trump and Laura Ingraham want to turn Facebook, Twitter, and Google into Fox News and to turn American media into a propaganda machine like those in China, Russia, North Korea, and other autocracies where the government controls what you see, hear, and read.

It’s always about the control of language. Control the language and you control people’s thoughts. Many politically correct words and phrases are an attempt to reprogram language and thought to match a certain perspective. I’m sure you can guess how I interpret all of that.

Yes, I can, but there is political correctness and then there are “alternative facts,” “fake news,” and “truth isn’t truth.” To me, that’s a big difference.

But you aren’t called “phobic” if you choose to exercise free will rather than use the officially sanctioned dictionary. No one is fooled by Trump’s rhetoric, but dress up Big Brother as on the “right side of history” and you can only be good if you’re progressive, and it becomes a whole other animal.

Anyone who is at the fringes, right or left, is not good. But more and more Republicans seem to be at the fringes these days when it comes to human rights and dignity.

Which is probably why I set aside both major parties and consider myself an Independent. As attractive as the Democrats may seem to you, in the end, all they want, just like the Republicans, is to gain and keep power.

I’m also enrolled as an independent because I don’t vote along party lines. I vote on the issues, I vote for the candidates and not for their party. But my general positions and ideals lean Democratic.

I consider myself a moderate with certain libertarian leanings and also vote on the issues rather than slavishly obey “party lines”.

Instead of a propoganda machine for the rich? Divide and rule can mean people can argue positions of left and right while the kleptocracy continues … Whatever your view it doesn’t affect the process. Just saying :). Interesting times

Wasn’t the day he did his Google search right after he pulled the flag stunt about McCain? Seems like he had even more bad press that day than usual, even from the conservatives. It is very likely that that is why his search showed so negative.
No one seems to have the kahunas to point out to him that he could just refrain from doing stunts like that if he wants positive press. It is rather too late to not surround himself with criminals, but he could act like a decent human being now and again. Maybe he could put his “genius” to work to help the children DSH took from their families back together?

Republicans have pushed for this for decades…long before social media. It’s the way things work. But, so do Democrats. Look at Alex Jones for an example. Yes, he spouts off falsehoods. Yes, he is a conspiracy theorist. The argument was that his speech turned inciteful, but they kept saying “look at the trash he is putting out there”. Just because you don’t like the message is no reason to shut down the messenger. Both sides need to put their big boy pants back on and move on with life. Both sides need to spot pointing out the stupidity in the other…both sides needs to stop instigating arguments in the public eye…both sides just need to stop. There is a reason why the Carter’s, Clinton’s, Bush’s, and Obama’s all get along…business is business, but in the end, we are all neighbors and trying to do what we think best. Trump is the little spoiled kid always instigating the fight, then crying foul because the other kid hit back. We knew this when he was running for election. It’s time to move on, let Mueller do his job, let Congress do their job, get the public to do their job, get the states to do their job (I still cannot vote in Kansas), and stop focusing on what others are doing.

I’m all for regulations, yes I’m. I fear both sides of aisle. I see how worst Trump is but I know how bad tech companies could be. As I’ve said before this guy makes me sick, because whoever he opposes Obama, Google etc.. All become good..what a farce, what an increasingly partisan society we have become..
