Friday Fictioneers — Mirror Mirror

img_2364

Mirror mirror in the yard
Tell me why I must work so hard

I work all day and into the night
But I never see an end in sight

What must I do to make ends meet
What steps can I take the odds to beat

Tell me how to get my life on track
So I can move my family from this shack

I don’t foresee an end to my plight
There’s little left in me with which to fight

Mirror mirror tell me what I can do
To refresh my life and start anew

(96 words)

This sad, little excuse for a poem was written for this week’s Friday Fictioneers prompt from Rochelle Wisoff-Fields. Photo credit: Nathan Sowers.

Good poem, and it fits nicely with the picture to round out a feeling.

Thanks, Marleen. Poetry is not my strong suit.

Yup, life is work. Delightful poem – reminds me of the song Fifteen Tons. “and what do you get, another day older and deeper in debt”

You know you could be a poet and ‘end it sight’ was that a subliminal message?

Neat and rhythmic poem, like a song. If life is hard and you just can’t stick it, I suggest you buy another lottery ticket.

Nice poem. Did mirror divulge what it has in its mind?

A good write, powerful in its all-to-real nature.
