I am sure it was not intentional. These things happen. A case of mistaken identity, I suppose.
What am I talking about, you ask? Well, it seems that a blogger and poet who goes by the name of Mws R has somehow come to the conclusion that I, Fandango, am someone capable of performing random acts of kindness. As a result, she nominated me for something she calls the Random Acts of Kindness Award.According to Mws R, this is “an award to give to another for their kindness or what they unselfishly give to others.” The problem is that (1) I’m not the kind of person who does random acts, and (2) I’m not known for my kindness. So there must have been some mistake.
As part of this award process, I’m supposed to “share a paragraph of something that impacted your own life in the way of receiving kindness or how you extended kindness to someone else.”
Oh jeez. Is stopping at a crosswalk while in my car to avoid hitting an old lady on crutches a random act of kindness? Or is it just a means for avoiding a felony charge for manslaughter?
Oh wait. I know of two acts of kindness. The first was when we took in and gave a home to a stray cat. And the second was when we adopted a rescue dog from a kill shelter and provided it with a loving home.
Of course, these were really more acts of kindness on the part of my wife, but we’re life partners, right? So I’m going to, for the purpose of this post, take full credit.
Next, I’m supposed to “nominate anyone or to share your own page.” I’m sharing this page and suggesting that anyone who has either performed a random act of kindness or has been the recipient of one should feel free to share your own story.
“kill shelter” Oxymoron?

Yes it is. Those “kill shelters” are heartbreaking. If no one adopts a dog within a certain number of days, they euthanize them. Our rescue dog is such a sweetheart and I’m so glad we saved her. I feel like she saved us as well.

I think offering your daily word prompt is another amazing act of kindness, and random because anyone can join and also read blogs that might have been difficult to spot otherwise, so thank you for your kindness and well deserved award!

I remember that you helped me with a spelling mistake that I made, which was awfully kind of you.

Damn, I forgot about that. I am so deserving of that Kindness Award after all.

And along that same line, you pointed out that I actually used three sentences when I claimed I used two. So you see, you made me go back re-edit it so no one else was confused. That is Is kind.

AND I think you deserve the award for hosting this site… AND for loving your dog and your kitty.

That’s what friends are for. And thank you for not thinking of me as a persnickety old fart. Or maybe you do, but that’s okay. It’s probably apt.

I tend to be somewhat dubious of these sorts of “awards” that appear out of a (virtual) clear blue sky. I’ve even seen blogs where the blog owner put up a notice saying “no awards,” meaning, “please don’t send me the nomination.
Not that you don’t deserve it of course, but I just find it suspicious when someone I don’t know or have never heard of before sends me stuff like this.

I actually have declared my blog to be a “no blog awards” blog. But I do appreciate the recognition and while I don’t typically “pay it forward” by nominating others, I enjoy answering questions that the nominative has asked, so I thank them and answer any of their questions.

I think the ‘no nomination’ is having a reverse psychological effect.

I saw a young Asian woman with two toddlers and a baby and a large bag of groceries struggle while crossing a busy street when one toddler sat and refused to get up. I picked up the toddler and grabbed the other child by the hand and walked them to safety. Then I took the bag of groceries from her and told her I’d walk her wherever she was going so she could take hold of her now petrified children. She didn’t speak English and broke into tears. God knows – she probably thought I meant to kidnap them. There were plenty of able bodied young people around just brushing by us. It was unthinkable not to help. Shocked me. I still get upset when I think about it. I mean, how could you not help!

Now that’s what I call a real random act of kindness. Good for you.

I too make it a habit to stop for pedestrians in cross walks. We must be kind people! I bet if you or I had Bill Gates’ money we would also start a foundation to make the world a better place!

I would donate to progressive causes and candidates so that, come November 2018, the world might start to be a better place.

You bring sunshine to my life every day you write a Trump blog. You deserve this award for many reasons 😊👍✌️😎

Thanks, Christine. I was just thinking about cutting back on my Trump rants, but now I don’t know, since I don’t want to deprive you of sunshine! 😉

I said earlier that I was on an MSNBC diet and I have been, but tonight I paid attention and I get the impression this Trump Jr thing has got the old man really running scared. We’ll see. Plus Omarosa (witchy woman) has got him all stirred up. Teehee 🤭
I need some sunshine so don’t pull back.

It’s kind of weird when Rachel Maddow is must see TV, isn’t it? Donald should be concerned about Junior. Omaroso, though? She’s almost as much of a buffoon as Trump Sr. is.
