Better Than Sex

B1AAF46D-364A-4B17-A0AF-EB59483D2B02I’m not sure how much longer I can keep up this pace.

No, I’m not talking about sex. I’m talking about blogging. So if you saw the title of this post and that’s the only reason you’re here, you can leave now.

I write and post at least three or four times a day. Sometimes five or six times.

I love writing, exercising my imagination and creativity. I love keeping the synapses firing in this old brain of mine.

I love it when people read, like, and respond to my posts. It’s addictive, like a narcotic, a rush, a shot of adrenaline.

I love responding to prompts, including my own.

But there are just so many writing prompts these days. Stream of consciousness prompts, one-liner prompts, word prompts, story prompts, photo prompts.

So many that it makes my stomach and intestines start to grumble and rumble as I try to figure out how to use the word borborygmus in a post.

And then there is the treasure trove of topics for political and social commentary in the land of Trumpistan. Trump provides us with a once in the lifetime (I hope) opportunity for bloggers.

But maybe it’s just too much. Maybe I should harken back to the days when I just sat around serenely reading the newspaper, reading books written by others, and watching inane TV shows.

No, I cannot. I need blogging to release those endorphins. Blogging is better than sex.

Okay, maybe not. But it’s a close second.

Written for Fandango’s One-Word Challenge, “pace.” And for the Word of the Day Challenge (serenely) and for the Ragtag Daily Prompt (borborygmus).

SoCS — The Hotline

580CDE8A-D0AC-4DB0-B746-097FA079D780Hello? This is President Donald J. Trump speaking.

Oh, Vladimir, my friend, I’m so glad you called. Yes, everything is proceeding nicely according to plan.

Thank you, Vlad. I agree that I’ve done well with respect to the G7, NATO, the EU, and the trade wars. I see that those alliances are starting to crack. It shouldn’t take too much longer.

Yes, you were great at Helsinki. I think the world can see clearly what a great leader you really are, believe me.

Oh no, don’t worry about the Mueller probe. I’ve got half of America believing this whole collusion thing is a hoax. And all of the negative stuff on the news, well, my supporters are buying this whole “fake news” crap and that the mainstream media is their real enemy. My supporters are behind me bigly, Vlad. One hundred percent.

What’s that? Oh, right. Yes, Eric, Don Jr., and I are retweeting all of those Russia-backed tweets, just like you wanted us to do. It’s definitely working to sew the seeds of division and discontent. Between that and what your hacker teams are doing to interfere with the midterm elections and to smear the Democratic candidates, I don’t think we need to worry about any big blue wave in November.

And Vlad, You made a good call to not release that pee-pee tape of me you made at the Moscow Ritz-Carlton. Hey, you really got me good with that one, comrade. Ha ha!

No, I’m not concerned about Manafort or Cohen. I’ve got Giuliani all over Fox News spreading the word that they are liars and thugs. Yes, I know. People really are falling for it. They are even believing me when I tell them that you don’t want Trump because no one’s been tougher on Russia than Trump. They’re even buying that bullshit about how Russia is trying to help the Democrats.

Yes, you’re right, Vlad, Americans are suckers.

Okay, fine. That sounds good. It was great talking with you. Call me next week with further orders and I’ll give you an update on our progress on making Russia — I mean America — great again.

Written for Linda G. Hill’s Stream of Consciousness Saturday prompt. The instructions are to use the word “call” or any word that contains those letters in that order.

FOWC with Fandango — Pace

FOWCWelcome to August 4, 2018 and to Fandango’s One-Word Challenge (aka, FOWC). It’s designed to fill the void after WordPress bailed on its daily one-word prompt.

I will be posting each day’s word just after midnight Pacific Time (US).

Today’s word is “pace.”

Write a post using that word. It can be prose, poetry, fiction, non-fiction. It can be any length. It can be just a picture or a drawing if you want. No holds barred, so to speak.

Once you are done, tag your post with #FOWC and create a pingback to this post if you are on WordPress. Or you can simply include a link to your post in the comments.

And be sure to read the posts of other bloggers who respond to this prompt. You will marvel at their creativity.
