100WW/WOTD — An Angry Beaver

D81FBD8D-AAD3-41D3-A387-04A0DF3A4500“The Angry Beaver?” Mandy said. “How dare you take me to a place with that name. Have you no sensitivity?”

“What are you talking about?” Jimmy asked. “This is my favorite bar.”

“Don’t tell me you don’t know what a beaver is,” Mandy said.

“Of course I do,” Jimmy said. “It’s a large furry rodent with a flat tail that chops down trees and builds dams. I’m not stupid.”

“It’s also slang for vagina,” she said indignantly.

“Okay, fine,” Jimmy said. “I wouldn’t want to be seen walking in there with an angry beaver on my arm.”

That reminds me of a lesbian friend of mine who had a t-shirt printed with the slogan “Save a Tree, Eat a Beaver”. I was quite innocent of it’s meaning at the time.

My high school had its own pond. Beaver Pond. No, seriously. And our mascot was a beaver. Yup. It was the laugh point for everyone for years until the high school closed when it got too old.
