My Pet

FF4130CB-9F31-4BB2-9D8B-BF70B5D1DCB4I had a pet frog. He was green with brown freckles.

I called him Pluto, but he wasn’t named after the planet. He was named after Mickey Mouse’s pet dog.

I have a small but elaborate labyrinth in my backyard that I used to put him in so that he could get his exercise.

Then one day he croaked.

Written for Teresa’s Three Things Challenge.  Today’s three things are Pluto, frog, and labyrinth.

I suppose he exercised himself to death? Well, you never mentioned him eating, so…

Funny one. I had a pet frog once. It was a class project were we all had to make a habitat for frog eggs and see if any hatched. We were all given 5 eggs and I was the only one that had one hatch and live. It was amazing to watch this thing grow from an egg to a tiny tadpole and when it was losing its tail, I put it in a new frog home I made. It finally lost its whole tail and was out hopping around the land part, but still liked to be in the water. It was real little and I was so proud of it. One day my mother and I were going to the mall when she spotted a horsefly in an old playhouse in the backyard of my Grandmother’s house. She caught it and said my frog would be happy…it would be like it died and went to heaven. It did. Came home to find it floating belly up. Scared for life, now…thanks mom. That fly was just as big as my little frog–don’t know what she was thinking.
