Simple Instructions

“There’s nothing complicated about this,” Anita said. “You just have to follow the instructions, step by step. Can’t you follow simple instructions?”

“I have been following the ‘simple’ instructions and I’ve been at this for three hours and now I’m going to have to go back and start from scratch,” Larry groused.

“Seriously?” Anita said. “It looks like you’ve got most of it put together.”

“Yeah, that’s what I thought,” said Larry, “but I messed up somewhere.”

“Should I call my father?” Anita asked. “He’s a mechanical engineer.”

“No way,” insisted Larry. “I’ll figure out how to put this damn crib together without help from your father. But I tell you what. We’re never buying another piece of furniture from IKEA ever again.”03C1BEB7-358F-49D4-A76D-5BA2B44E3833

I remember having to assemble a gas grill back in the 80s, it had numerous parts and the instructions were very complicated. Now they come fully assembled.

Hilarious photo to back up and cracking dialogue. Super use of the prompt.

Not only do I never shop at Ikea ( I don’t think there is one in this county anyhow), but if I did, i would get someone else to put it together. Then leave while they curse and scream and carry on. At least I know I’m not good at it!

The only reason I can put these things together is because – I don’t read the instructions! Creating my own logic creates a finished product that works.

I had to put together almost all my son’s furniture (cheap crap, not from IKEA…lol). I have had extra pieces, missing pieces, instructions written in Korean, missing instructions, and even one that was nothing but a blowout image of where all the parts were supposed to go. It is always an adventure…lol. Great story!
