“That’s interesting,” Andrea said to her husband. “I just got a text from Nikki congratulating me on being pregnant.”
“Oh?” Frank said. “I wonder how she found out.”
“Come on, Frank,” Andrea said. “Steve is your best friend. I’m sure he was the first one you told. You didn’t think he’d tell his wife?”
“I told him not to tell anyone,” Frank said.
“Right,” Andrea said. “And I told you not to tell anyone, didn’t I? After what happened with my last pregnancy, I didn’t want anyone to know about this one until I was sure that it wouldn’t happen again.”
“I’m sorry, Andrea, but at bowling the other night, Steve asked me if you’d gotten a boob job,” Frank explained. “I told him that you hadn’t gotten one. I said that your boobs were bigger because you’re pregnant.”
“You said that at bowling?” Andrea asked. “Did any of the other guys here you?”
“It’s possible,” Frank admitted.
Andrea’s phone buzzed. She picked it up and read a text message. “That was from Sharon. She says she’s so excited for me.” Andrea gave Frank a dirty look. “How many people did you tell?” she asked.
“I don’t know,” Frank admitted. “Just the guys on the bowling team and maybe a few folks at the office.”
“Dammit, Frank,” Andrea said. “This is why I didn’t want you to say anything to anyone.”
“Come on, Andrea,” Frank said. “The word will get out soon enough anyway.” Frank patted Andrea’s belly. “See,” he said. “Your little love bubble is starting to show.”
Written for this week’s Let It Bleed prompt from Saumya Agrawal. We’re supposed to incorporate the sentence “How many people did you tell?” Into our prompt.
Also written for today’s one-word prompt, “bubble.”
