#JusJoJan — The Darkness

7CE6A3FC-DD1C-4386-8F30-621A24D2A15AThe Darkness descended and spread across the land. This Darkness was man made, brought about by the ascendancy of a corrupt, heartless, self-serving con man who promised greatness but delivered misery to all but his close inner circle.

The Darkness was aided by the help of foreign agents whose mission it was to disrupt and destroy democracies across the globe and to replace their leaders with like-minded, autocratic dictators.

It didn’t happen overnight. The Darkness was incremental, starting with a small but steady stream of subtle, often secretive, changes to what were, in the days before the Darkness, societal norms. Only the most astute observers were able to see the Darkness approaching, but they were dismissed as being paranoid by those in power who were unwittingly coerced into doing the bidding of the Darkness.

But then the Darkness started to descend rapidly upon the democracies of the world. Chaos ensued as, one by one, the disabled democracies failed and the Darkness prevailed.

And the world, once again, entered The Dark Ages.

Written for Just Jot It January prompt from Linda G. Hill. Today’s word, “darkness,” was suggested by Kerry at Her Headache.

“The Darkness descended and spread across the land. He is very “first amendment” on that one.

the darkness in the world started a LONG, LONG time before this one guy. Yes, he is not helping bring the light, but he’s not really any worse (yet) than the rest who came before him. TSA, NSA, unending wars, etc, etc, etc,

I have to disagree with you. I think this guy is the worst by a wide margin and he’s accelerating the decline and fall of the American democracy like no other before him.

well, he might be ‘the worst’ in some ways, like the way he insults people, but personally I am glad to get rid of the PC BS taking over the country and world. I’m happy to put up with a few insults if it brings out the truth.
As for being worst by a wide margin (other than the insults), I am not seeing that so far. Except for his idiotic ideas about the WALL. That is completely stupid and will only hurt America. Not because it will keep illegal aliens out, but because it will keep US in!
The USA is becoming a police state (Personally, I think it has already become one and THAT is what I consider makes the worst president by far- Bush with all the SHIT he allowed to pass after 9-11, and Obama allowing the government takeover of our medical system when its so obvious that it was government involvement that is what screwed it up so badly in the first place). THAT is what is ‘accelerating the decline and fall of the American democracy”.
And remember, America is NOT a democracy! Its a constitutional republic! I would really like to see ONE president show some real respect to that document. Trump doesn’t. Neither did Obama, nor Bush, nor any of the others since before the Civil War!

“I’m happy to put up with a few insults if it brings out the truth.” Our current president (and the people he surrounds himself with) wouldn’t know the truth if it smacked him in the face. All he knows are lies and “alternative facts.” He’s at war with the free press, with the environment, with human rights, and with decency. He is a racist, a bigot, a misogynist, and a moron.

I was never a fan of Dubya, although I did like and respect his daddy. And I have to disagree with you about Obamacare. The American healthcare system has been broken for many years. Unfortunately, Obamacare, well it enabled an addition 20 million or so Americans to have access to healthcare, it fell short of what it could have been due to political compromises necessary to get it passed. Personally, I’m a fan of Medicare for all.
