A Florida man said that his Facebook post (above), which invited people to shoot into the winds of Hurricane Irma, was a joke. His event invitation read:
“YO SO THIS GOOFY LOOKING WINDY HEADASS NAMED IRMA SAID THEY PULLING UP ON US, LETS SHOW IRMA THAT WE SHOOT FIRST.”
Not surprisingly, the Facebook post went viral. But apparently many Floridians either lack a sense of humor, don’t understand satire, or have too many guns on their hands. More than 50,000 of his fellow Floridians signed up for the event by this past Sunday.
The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, however, wasn’t sure if everyone took it as a joke. They felt compelled to tell residents not fire weapons at Hurricane Irma, and posted this on the Sheriff’s Office Twitter Account:
By the way, there’s no truth to the reports that a Florida man died when he shot at Hurricane Irma.
