I did not write this post. A friend of mine emailed it to me. He didn’t write it either, but he thought it might resonate with me. It did, so I thought I’d share it.
It’s an open letter to Trump supporters signed by someone named “Craig T.” I have no idea who that is. But here is what he wrote:
Hey Trump supporters! Let’s get real for a minute.
You think I take pleasure in watching the Trump Presidency crumble in slow motion right before our eyes.
I don’t take any pleasure in it.
You think I’m giddy about the prospect of Trump, Trump Jr., Manafort, Flynn, Kushner, and the whole Trump Cartel facing criminal indictment.
I’m not giddy.
I’m extremely disappointed in you.
This is a stain on America. An indictment of ALL of us.
You see, I tried to warn you that your Pavlovian hatred of Hillary and your utter disgust at the very idea of a black man sitting in the Oval Office for eight years was detrimental to all of us.
But you kept lying about emails and birth certificates until you convinced yourself that the lies were true.
And then when a dirtbag charlatan con artist stood before you, every word spewing from his mouth a demonstrable lie, you overlooked it.
You embraced the lies because he promised you that he would hurt the people that you hate.
And the only thing that really got hurt was the reputation of the nation that I love.
Your intense, paralyzing hatred has impaired your judgement and endangered the nation. Yet you still defend him.
Can’t you see what you’ve become? Can’t you see what you’ve done?
You’re demanding an end to an investigation that you claim is fake. If it’s fake, then it seems like you’d want it to continue to clear him of all charges.
The only reason why you could possibly want it to end, is because you’re afraid of what it will reveal.
You tried to screw liberals and in the process, you screwed the entire nation. You’re like a political suicide bomber, detonating your device in the public square, not caring that you will kill yourself too.
But hey, as long as you hurt the people you hate, right?
Do you realize how insane your philosophy is? Do you understand how utterly detached from humanity you must be to do what you’re doing?
Think about it. Seriously! Think about this. You have taken the word of a former KGB agent and dictator of Russia over the words of your own intelligence agencies, the very people who have taken an oath to defend you against people like Putin.
Can’t you see how utterly treasonous that is?
What has the conservative machine done to you over the last 30 years that overnight, your enemies have become your allies and your allies, your enemies?
We warned you long before now that Trump was going down. And it appears that your hatred is going to lead you to go down with him, taking America’s reputation in the world with you.
But hey, at least you hurt a lot of people that you hate in the process, right?
This, That, and the Other 
There is so much truth in this blog and so many idiots still here in our country. I don’t hate the haters, because that would make me one of them. I never understood why so many people hated Hillary so much even though she did make some mistakes ad as far as Obama goes, I think that he is the greatest president that we had in a long time although he really did not do all that much.

I hate all 3 of them. I don’t know what’s worse, the elevation of Obama and Hillary.. Or the destined falling and failing of Trump. But how can you reason with Trump supporters. The literate one always give us the example of Iraq, to screw intelligence agencies (although they didn’t realise, that the Committee chairman was strongly critical of the hollow evidence), and the non-educated one gives the nod to his Presidency because he makes them seem like ‘normal persons’ (Whatever the hell that suppose to mean?).. I agree with Jim, Obama didn’t really do much but Trump is doing something and let’s say it’s doing more damage…

I had faith in Obama to do everything he could to protect the people and the planet. I wasn’t thrilled with Hillary, but I thought she was so much more well equipped to serve as POTUS than is Donald Trump, who couldn’t care less about the environment or the health and well-being of our citizens because all he care about is Donald Trump.
But you’re right. Talking to most Trump supporters is a waste of time and breath.

When Obama approved the bailout he killed his legacy. Pure and Simple. He will remembered not as the 1st Black President but a President under whose watch, robbers were rewarded for robbing the American nation. I think in current conditions Sanders could be a good choice..

I don’t look back at Obama with the same disdain. He inherited Bush’s economic mess (including the bail out), saved the American auto industry, and got quite a bit done to rein in Wall Street and the big banks. He also did a lot to protect the environment and he got health care legislation passed that eliminated pre-existing condition exclusions, allowed dependent children to stay on their parents’ health plans up to age 26, expanded coverage, and enabled an addition 20 million Americans to get heath benefits. He also got bin Laden and didn’t brag about it in any tweets. Overall, he was a much better, more effective, and more successful president than both his predecessor and his successor.

Look Sensei, I am sure it’s for the future generations to decide on the matter. But no matter how I look at it he killed financial reforms. And ‘distressed asset’, hell there are no ‘assets’. They have just painted and delayed the inevitable. And there was a time when going to the moon was deemed as a proud moment. How come the intelligence agencies operation for more than 2 years be credited to a President? And don’t even start me with health care legislation. Do you know what Insurance corporations are making because of it?
I am not an intelligent person like you Sensei. So maybe I am looking at the wrong picture..

Just one comment about health care. Obama wanted single payer (Medicare for all, essentially) and the Congress (and the insurance lobby) wouldn’t go for it. So the “comprise” legislation ended up getting watered down. But the right approach is to fix it, not repeal it, and not to subvert it like Trump is doing. And as far as killing financial reforms, are you serious? Trump is the one rolling back virtually all financial reforms and giving the banks and Wall Street carte blanche to screw people and to be unbridled. Of course, this assumes he doesn’t cause a nuclear holocaust that destroys all of humanity first. Then there might not be any future generations to decide on the matter.

I’m not a supporter of Trump, Sensei. Don’t make me into one. And just because Trump became President (which no one believed that he would) doesn’t mean the mistakes of Obama admin. becomes less severe.

All presidents make mistakes, Sight. But in my opinion, Obama made far fewer than did Bush. As to Trump, his mistakes so far are, shall we say, unprecedented. You know, “confefe.”

And now, Trump is giving them BACK all the powers that let they kill us the first time. How does that make ANY sense? In the context you speak, it’s upside down and backwards. They paid that money back, you know. Long ago. So Obama kept the last of our major homegrown industries from failing and that is some kind of crime, whereas orange brain is setting the whole thing on fire again? And this is good? What kind of people are we that we don’t even know what’s good and what isn’t?

Don’t make me into a Trump supporter. I’m not. And no they didn’t paid it back. Where on Earth are you getting these statistics. Look read the clause 109. Don’t even make me start with the HDFC scandal. Larry Summers and Obama had a choice to bring financial reforms, they didn’t. And saving Jobs. Really? Either we are speaking on a different subject or you misinterpreted my comments. Again not a Trump supporter.

Where did I ever in the whole comment section said that the banks didn’t repaid the money. Let us not steer the discussion away from one fact. The bailout didn’t help the taxpayers. Did you read Section 109 which was overlooked.(P. S. I don’t Google out of the blue to give credit to my side of my story. Also my comment on, not being intelligent was meant for Sensei. I am not rude as to yell at him and acting like a Trumpster to make my point. Besides Sensei is not aggressive, same can’t be said for this conversation I’m afraid)

I read the article / screed and read the comments. The combination of two is why Americans support President Trump. It’s also why the vast majority of America now has Republican leadership at all levels of government from local to national.

The majority of Americans did not vote for Trump and do not support him. And Republicans control the majority of state houses and congressional seats because of minority voter suppression and outrageous gerrymandering of voting districts.

Incorrect. American voted for- and support President Trump. Those that voted against him and/or attack him aren’t Americans, they’re Americans’ domestic enemies.
You’re not American in any way except the legalistic ones when you hate all that America ever was and want to fundamentally change the nation and its culture.

More Americans voted for Clinton than for Trump. That is a fact, not fake news, so open your eyes. Those of us who voted against him and who don’t support him in his effort to destroy the nation we love, and possibly the world, are not the enemy. We are the only hope for the preservation of American democracy.

When, in American history, has NOT voting for a president, regardless of how many are involved, meant you had become an enemy of America? Where did you get this? It isn’t in our constitution or our laws. It a horrific misreading of the meaning of our citizenship. Disagreement is FUNDAMENTAL to our process. Argument is necessary. We are not a totalitarian regime. If you want that kind of government, may I suggest that there are many place on earth where you would be more than welcome? Here, in this country, in which I am a citizen and apparently, so are you, we all have the right to vote for whoever we want to vote for and to fight for whatever principles in which we believe. That is what democracy is about. If you don’t believe in that, YOU are not an American.
