Donald Trump today vowed to meet threats from North Korea with “fire and fury like the world has never seen.”
I was reminded, when I heard what Trump said today, of when another President, George W. Bush, promised “shock and awe” in the 2003 invasion of Iraq.
Hmm. How did that work out for us?
The older I get, the more I feel that the years are going by as quickly as revolving doors or merry-go-rounds.
In fact, I’m reminded of Joni Mitchell’s classic song, “The Circle Game.” You know the lyrics, right? Sing along:
And the seasons they go round and round
And the painted ponies go up and down
We’re captive on the carousel of time
We can’t return we can only look
Behind from where we came
And go round and round and round
In the circle game
If you’re not familiar with this song, take a moment to listen. You won’t regret it.
